The teams latest assignment was to head to
great wratting, to carry out a major clearance of a lake site in an area of land which contains three lakes.
Our 2.5 ton steel tracked specialized excavator was transported to site, along with our welfare unit.
On arrival the initial task was to clear the entrance of the site.
Using various equipment including chainsaws, pole saws and hedge cutters brambles were removed.
We lifted the canopies of some trees so our plant and work vehicles could gain access to the site.
The team cleared an area of vegetation so a bonfire could safely be lit.
All brambles, branches and other vegetation was placed onto the fire.
A large amount of decaying trees needed to be felled.
Our qualified arborist felled the trees. The other team members began stripping the trunks of smaller branches and placing them on the bonfire.
The larger trunks were cut into manageable lengths for the customer.
As the clearance proceeded and the area cleared the team could transport a 14 ton excavator to site.
Using the 14 ton excavator the roots from the felled trees could be excavated. Once excavated they were put onto the bonfire and the area could be levelled.
As discussed with the client various conifer trees were felled and the roots excavated.
Once the larger trunks were cut into manageable lengths and the smaller branches and tops were burnt on the bonfire.
For the next phase of the assignment the team headed towards the larger lake. The team then begin clearing the overgrown area so access to the lake was possible.
An area was cleared to allow the team to safely start another bonfire.
More trees had to be felled with the trunks cut into manageable lengths. We placed the trunks in an area to the side of our working area.
All other branches, brambles and other vegetation was burnt.
After a considerable effort and numerous manhours the team were then able to access the lake area.
Using the 14 ton excavator, trees that had fallen into the lake some time ago were lifted out of the lake.
Having been in the lake for a considerable time these trees had become saturated and were placed near to the fire to dry out before being placed onto the fire and burnt.
The fire debris and surrounding ground was levelled out on completion.
Once all the trees were removed from the lakes and all the clearance work completed the plant was collected and the assignment was complete.
