OAK RETAINING WALL IN BRETTENHAM

Richard and the team created an oak sleeper retaining wall to prevent the driveway collapsing into the pond.

they pumped down the pond water level, then using a hydraulic attachment on the arm of the excavator drove upright oak sleepers into the bank to form the framework for the retaining wall.

Horizontal oak sleepers were then positioned, drilled and bolted to the uprights.

Rear support posts were driven in behind the wall and oak restraining arms were bolted to the rear supports and the retaining wall.

The ground behind the retaining wall was backfilled with aggregates and mechanically compacted. 20mm stone was then laid and raked to finish the driveway.
