The team travelled to Thorndon, near Eye, to complete a pond dredging project at a private property. The pond had dried out following an extremely hot summer, allowing dredging works to begin safely and efficiently.
An eight-ton specialist long-reach excavator and a six-ton dumper were transported to site. Both items of plant were carefully tracked into position through the property’s wooden gate and down to the pond area.
The long-reach excavator was used to remove accumulated vegetation, silt and debris from the dried pond. Spoil was loaded into the dumper and transported to a disused ditch which no longer ran, where it was tipped before the area was later levelled. The pond bottom and banks were reshaped to improve the overall profile and finish of the feature.
Following completion of the dredging works, a picket fence was supplied and installed across the opening to the pond. This provided an important safety measure for the clients, who have small grandchildren visiting the property.
The pond was successfully dredged, reshaped and made safer with the installation of a picket fence. On completion, the plant was collected and the immediate work area was left in as neat and tidy a condition as possible.
