A GARDEN POND RESTORATION

Garden Pond Restoration Project

A Step-by-Step Journey

The team embarked on a journey near the Orwell estuary for an exciting garden pond restoration project. Upon arrival, the initial task involved draining the existing pond using a submersible pump. This essential step paved the way for the entire restoration process.

Once the pond was emptied of water, the team disconnected, removed, and meticulously cleaned the pond pump, ensuring it would be ready for reinstallation upon project completion. With the water gone, the overgrown vegetation that had taken over the pond could finally be addressed. Reeds, weeds, and debris were systematically removed and transported by wheelbarrow to the company’s tipper truck for disposal at a certified location, maintaining a clean and eco-friendly approach.

The next phase involved using a pond vacuum to remove the silt accumulated at the pond’s bottom, now accessible with the old liner exposed. The team then tackled the large stones lining the pond’s edge, carefully removing and setting them aside for later repositioning.

The old liner, having served its time, was removed and disposed of off-site at a certified location. This cleared the way for reshaping the pond banks and adjusting the gradient, creating an improved foundation for the new liner.

The installation of a new underlay and E.P.D.M. liner marked a significant milestone in the restoration. Once securely in place, the pond could be refilled, and the cleaned pond pump was reinstalled, reconnecting the heart of the pond’s circulation system.

Attention then turned to the aesthetic aspect, as the large stones were thoughtfully repositioned around the pond’s edge, restoring its natural beauty. To breathe life back into the pond, a selection of fish was supplied, transported to the site, and carefully introduced into their revitalized habitat.

With the pond restored to its former glory, the team ensured the working area was left spotless, a testament to their dedication and attention to detail. The garden pond, now rejuvenated, stood as a serene and picturesque feature, ready to be enjoyed once more.
