DESILT AND RESTORE POND IN ESSEX
BOREHAM POND RENOVATION.
THE TEAM WENT TO BOREHAM IN ESSEX TO RENOVATE A POND.
PHASE ONE
With limited access the team had to enter through a corner of the hedge where the customer had removed some shrubs.
Trees were faced back so an 8 ton excavator could be tracked to site.
Once access had been gained the tennis court surface was to be
Broken up using the excavator with a toothed bucket.
Once broken up the rubble was set aside whilst soil was excavated from the area.
A bund was then created ready for the silt from the pond.
A tracked dumper was then delivered to site
The pond was then drained and excavating the silt could begin.
The silt was dredged from the pond and loaded in to the dumper.
The silt was then transported to the bund to be tipped.
Some plants were also removed from the edge of the pond and tipped in to the bund.
The team trimmed back a rhododendron from the waters edge.
The pond banks were then shaped and an overflow was installed.
PHASE TWO
Build an oak sleeper wall and install a jetty to the pond.
Oak sleepers and associated timbers were transported to site.
The vertical posts were driven in by hand.
Horizontal oak sleepers were then drilled and bolted to the upright posts.
The jetty framework was then installed and non-slip decking was fitted to provide the platform.
Topsoil and grass seed were then distributed around the pond area and landscaped.
The site was then cleared and left in a clean and tidy condition.
