DE-SILTING A LARGE POND NEAR KELVEDON

Our latest project.

Richard and the team removed trees bushes and some fences.

A bund was created to tip the silt.

The pond was then pumped down and the team was then able to start excavating the silt, reeds and weeds using a standard excavator and a specialised long reach excavator. The silt was loaded into a dumper and tipped into the bund.

Once the silt was removed the team knocked in oak sleepers to to form the framework for an oak retaining wall. Oak sleepers were then drilled and bolted to the uprights to form the wall.

Rear supports and retainers were then fitted to secure the wall.

The bank was then back filled with aggregates and topsoil.

The other banks were then had the trees and bushes faced back, the banks were then reshaped .

All around the pond had topsoil and grass seed spread to level the area.

After recommendation from Richard the clients added a circulation pump to minimise algae growth and stagnation.
